America is a post apocalyptic wasteland. A father and son walk what remains of a road, headed for the coast. Headed towards what the father believes is hope. With nothing but what they can find and carry, they constantly move forward. Cormac McCarthy’s bleak and unrelenting novel is poetic, gorgeous and sad.

Book Review
The Road is dark. Dark, but so worth it. McCarthy’s lyrical prose is so incredibly evocative. His ability to get you, as a reader, to invest in this nameless father and son is amazing. The Road stunned me into silence. It’s unbelievable that such a short novel has had such a lasting impact on me as a reader. I may never read it again, but I’ll also never forget it.
