DCC 2018 Author Preview: Sherry Ficklin
Colorado’s own Sherry Ficklin will be at Denver Comic Con this weekend, and you owe it to yourself to stop by and see her at A17 in Author Alley. Sherry is a funny, delightful person, who also happens to be incredibly talented. We interviewed her in advance of Con to find out what she’s excited to see and share this weekend!
What do most people come to your booth or signings to talk to you about?
Books, of course! Most people are looking for recommendations or have seen me on a panel and want to check out my work.
What new thing do you want everyone to know about?
We just sold the rights for some of my books to be adapted into game apps, which is something very new and cool in the writing community! You’ll be seeing more about that this fall!
What person, panel, or event at DCC are you most excited for?
I always love meeting the Doctor Who actors and fans. I’m really excited for Tennant this year!
What’s your most popular item at cons?
Ironically it’s my Queen Of Someday books. Historical fiction is really popular right now!
Most hilarious con story, please!
My first year at DCC I tripped over my cart coming in on the first day and hit my head and got a pretty nasty concussion. They were trying to convince me to go to the hospital but I was like, “I have a signing in one hour!” So they gave me a green room pass so I could get ice and soda if I needed it. It was a long day, but that green room perk was worth the lump lol (I met so many cool celebs in there that year!)
Which of your characters do you most enjoy writing?
Zoe from my paranormal mystery LOSING LOGAN is my favorite hands down. She’s got a good heart, but that MOUTH! She’s the most like me of any of my characters.
What can fans do to support your work beyond buying your cool stuff?
Come say hi! I have lots of free e-books you can check out and booth goodies and leaving reviews online is never remiss!
Where can we find you at con?
I’m at A17 over in the Author Alley, though they are calling it something different this year, I think? BookZone or something? I love it! And of course, they can check out my panels! I’m doing lots for up and coming writers this year!
