This book starts simply with the story of Sleeping Beauty, then rapidly follows its own path of fairy tales and stories. The everyday lives of outcasts and misfits all carving out a life for themselves. From a mother-to-be traveling to a mythical castle, to a bearded lady trying to find a place where she belongs. A cast of characters you’ve never seen anything like before. All fairy tales should be as special as this.

I loved it, all of it. It was able to be a small, detailed story, with just enough struggle to keep things interesting, but not enough to keep the characters from being fun and wonderful. Although it references many fairy tales, its vivid characters are ones I’ve never encountered before. I love them all. Although there are still story lines that are incomplete, it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. I’m still impatient for more, but I can wait.
